Evan talks with Nashville DIY music photographer Marcus Maddox. Marcus is a fashion and music photographer from Nashville, TN. Expressing emotions through color and composition is Marcus’ intent. Inspired by minimalism and lo-fi music, Marcus strives to create imagery that makes every viewer feel like they are in a dream. Selected Clients & Publications: Nylon Magazine, AWEAR Magazine, Wilder, Goodwin, Elizabeth Suzann, Local Honey, Josh Fano Co. (UK), Congrats Records, Warby Parker, Nashville Scene, Native Magazine. Additionally Marcus has shot high profile bands & artists such as Paramore, Halfnoise, and more.

In 2017 Marcus released his first major photobook Pom Poms. Pom Poms Vol. 1 is a record of the style and emotions of a fleeing music scene. In this collection of photographs, Marcus reveals a dream-like perspective of a significant time. Marcus’ music photography has always been about giving back to the artists that he admired onstage. However, he soon realized his appreciation for the people offstage as well. This is the story of the people of the Nashville DIY music scene.
